Earlier in the year I was commissioned to create a cake box for their hedgehog cake. The assignment: create a fun cakebox with lots of bugs, leaves and hedgehogs . . . They had me at bugs.

Driving through town with your windows rolled down and radio blasting as you head to the pharmacy to pick up allergy meds. Which brings me to my point . . . game boards.

I was asked to create this fun game board as an activity piece for Sunday School Curriculum. Drawing little towns, houses and villages are so fun. Like drawing characters each building has it's own personality and story to tell.

I can't name anyone. So when Mattel asked me to illustrate several of the Pixar characters as tiki gods I jumped at the chance. I think I said "Yes!" before I realized the deadline was less than 24 hours away. Not that, that mattered. I was gonna do this job if it meant propping my eyes open with tooth picks and an i.v. drip of caffeine. The Mission - Mattel was making a special action figure/doll of John Lasseter to present to him at Toy Fair. The Theme - was centered around Mr. Lasseter's love of Hawaiian shirts. My Job - create the super hip tiki art for the packaging. Sketches, revisions and approval were all met on time. I even managed to get in a few minutes of sleep. Mattel was excited about the art and I had visions of the John Lasseter action figure nestled among Woody and Buzz in Mr. Lasseter's office. Unfortunately, I am not able to show the action figure. I can tell you that it looks great and comes decked out in a Hawaiian shirt. This action figure doesn't have kun-fu grip but if you get real close he will give you a hug.

Barium was thwarted when he discovered that the airport accidentally lost his weapons-grade luggage system.

Metro Airport baggage handler, Floyd Greeson, unwittingly redirected the bag to somewhere unimportant in France. Greeson was hailed a hero for his slow thinking and complete inattention to detail. As the mayor handed Greeson the key to the city, Greeson said, "I'm not in trouble or anything, right?"

Though foiled, Barium's spectacular atomo-powered backpack carried him up and over a quarter mile before suffering mechanical failure, dropping him into a very tall tree. The reasons for the failure are unclear, although Barium suggested it was "too fine an operation for your puny minds to comprehend."

Barium was arrested and charged with intent to menace and would-be hooliganism. With no evidence, police released him several hours later.

"It's just. look, it's just been one of those days, all right?" Barium said later in an interview at the Metro City bus station. "I'm going to have to go back to Skull Castle and work on this." Barium swore that from that day forward, he would fly only with villainous carry-ons. In addition, he vowed revenge on Metro City and resident super hero, Bottle Rocket.

When asked for comment, Bottle Rocket was attempting to open his garage door. He said, "Wait now, what happened?"
